House of Historical Dress


On Friday 25th October we have a fascinating talk by Claire Thornton on the Evolution of Embroidery from the Early modern period to the Machine-made era.

Using portraits and images of existing garments and selected pieces from the School of Historical Dress collection, this talk examines three hundred years of embroidery, focusing on styles, methods, the artisans who created them, and the wearers.
